Describe the place. As long as you want. Include some food/drink tips, what not to miss, what to avoid, etc.
A rating based on one visit might be misleading - try and keep things fact-based. Remember, we are a hitchhiker's guide to eating and drinking.

I ate at the Church Street one. Had the Chicken Kathi Roll with egg. It was just average. Not bad but nothing special.
RR
Submitted by cnb on Sun, 24/12/2006 - 13:23. Bangalore | Church street | Bar | Restaurant | AndhraRR serves excellent Andhra and Hyderabadi food. It's a very old and very famous "Institution" in Bangalore which shut down sometime ago and and then started again.
It occupies a whole three story building on Church Street just off Brigade Road. The first floor serves Andhra food, the second floor Hyderabadi food and the 3rd is a party hall. They have valet parking.
Raunak Kundu who got us here felt the first floor looked shabby so he took us to the second although we had planned to eat Andhra food. The second floor had much better seating and decor. Both floors are large and the tables are placed at good distances from each other.
We ordered a Non Veg platter which turned out to be just average. The prawns and Reshmi Kabab were quite nice. The Seekh Kababs were not too good. Other kababs were just ok.
This was washed down by some Old Monk which is reasonable here (by Bangalore restaurant standards) at 100 a peg. They only serve Pepsi though which most people hate as a mixer with Old Monk or Rum in general because of it's sweetness.
For the main course we had a Chicken Biryani and a Mutton Biryani alongwith a Dum Murgh. Raunak noted that the Biryanis were in Hyderabadi style and not Andhra. Nevertheless they were quite good. The Dum Murgh was very spicy (loads of green chillis but was excellent if you have a preference for spicy food.
Queens
Submitted by cnb on Sat, 09/12/2006 - 15:48. Bangalore | Church street | Elite Restaurant | Restaurant | Indian | Punjabi | Must VisitQueens is almost a hole in the wall on Church Street. Walking along Church Street you are most likely to miss Queens unless you know exactly where it is. If you are standing in front of the prominent Ruby Tuesday with Ruby Tuesday at your back then Queens is diagonally on your right.
It is quite small with a seating of about 35 odd people. There is usually a waiting time of 15 minutes or more unless you go very early in the evening.
I went one such early evening while waiting for a friend. I had been referred here by many people but never ended up paying a visit.
The menu had mainly Punjabi dishes. I noticed then that the crowd was also predominantly North Indian.
Since I didn't have much time I ordered a Chicken Roll. The waiter asked me if I wanted it "Dry" or Gravy". Pondering how they could have a roll with gravy I replied "Gravy".
What arrived what a normal unimpressive Chicken Roll. But one bite and I went "WOW". It was like an explosion of spices (and I don't mean Chilli) in my mouth. I repeat it wasn't spicy as in "hot" but that the gravy inside just tasted fabulous.
I pondered ordering another dish but didn't have the time to.
I am definitely going back here soon!
Coco Grove
Submitted by cnb on Fri, 01/12/2006 - 14:09. Bangalore | Church street | Pub | ContinentalOn Church Street, Coco Grove has two sections.
1.) A road side pub. Designed in a post modern manner. White all around. The decor doesn't really suit it's street side presence but the whole thing seems to work out quite well.
2.) A retro indian designed restobar with a very high ceiling.
Neither of these sections are air conditioned but you don't really need that in Bangalore. Both sections are very airy and spacious.

The menu consists of sandwiches, burgers and steaks. Quite a limited choice. Food is not very spicy. I think it's more geared to the firang expats taste who seemed to be there in abundance.
I wouldn't really suggest this place for it's food when Empire and Queens are on either side of it but it's quite a nice quiet place to hang around with some friends for a chat.
A draught mug is 60 and a pitcher about 265. You have various cocktails (with very little alcohol) for 150 each and mocktails for Rs.100 each.
20 Ft High
Submitted by suyesh on Sat, 28/05/2005 - 14:53. Bangalore | Church street | Bar | Elite Restaurant | American | ContinentalAn open air restaurant & bar with a differece....The whole place is set up on a parapet like extension of a building which is (you guessed right) 20 Feet high....
There is a Chineese restaurant downstairs and a bowling alley in the adjoining building.
It's a queer set up the ambience...wodden board flooring..thick wooden railings, decorated with lights, small round tables and beach umbrellas, and solid plastic chairs....Strange because this kind of setting would have been ideal for a beach side place....but instead of the sea all you can see from the vantage point is the back side of the buildings that lineup MG Road..
Now comming to the food, which is a typical mix of American and Continental cusine...A variety of Veg/Chicken/Meat/Beef Steaks and Sizzlers, Fish & Chips, salads, pastas dot the menu card...
The food we ordered was good and the service was great as we were the only customers that night...(Its the day Bangalore got flooded due to torrential rains..)...We were four of us and with a couple of beers, soup and a Steak each we
had to cough up about 1400 for the bill...pricey ehhh...!!
Not surpringly thier main clientele are expat goras who make a beeline for the place during lunch time...
There are quite a few Steak joints that I have discovered recently in Bangalore and this one rates somewhere on the top.
Comming up next is a place called 49ers somewhere near Cunnigham Road...

Liquor is on the affordable side, comparable to any other decent joint in town. Rs 110 for a beer, Rs 90 for a Virgin Colada, etc.

One of the few places you’ll find open late in the nights. This place is probably best known for its dosa and idli items—dosa chicken (two dosas, two different chicken curries), kheema dosa, idli chicken. Other stuff—biryani and all—are the usual.
Not good for vegetarians.
