Order food online or on the phone and have them deliver it to your door
Submitted by hydfoodie on Wed, 30/04/2008 - 07:00. Hyderabad | Pune | Bakery | Elite Restaurant | Restaurant | Snack JointEver been in a situation where you were hungry and needed good food from your favorite joint, but yet were not interested in or in a position to make the trip to the restaurant? Didn't know if they delivered home, or if they did, who to call? Or just wanted to try out a bunch of different restaurants but didn't want to take on the increasingly annoying Hyderabad traffic? Well, I've been in all of these situations, and on multiple occasions and wished there was an easy way to order my food and get it home-delivered. Not always was it easy to remember the number of every restaurant, and even if I did, some of my favorites such as Chutneys and Ohris don't really deliver at home. They gave me the option of ordering on the phone but I'd then have to go pick up. i confess to having used this take-out option more than a few times, but surely, life isn't supposed to be this hard. More recently, I discovered this online option of ordering thru Ordermonger.com and it certainly solved a lot of my problems. They list over 50 restaurants in Hyderabad and you can browse their menus online and place the order. I like the general look-and-feel of their site and the menus etc but they certainly need to work harder at making the site more intuitive and easier to use. For one, I'd like to be able to more easily customize my order, right now that seems a challenge. They also only seem to operate in certain areas of Hyderabad, think they need to reach out to Secunderabad, Himayat Nagar and the like. And lastly, they also tag on a delivery charge - i guess this is not such a bad thing because their charge seems reasonable and it would cost me more to go there myself. Overall, a pretty decent option. Call me lazy, but i love the luxury.
Rotis and More
Submitted by madpad on Fri, 28/09/2007 - 10:47. Hyderabad | Roadside | Indian | AffordableThis is more of a home delivery joint. Deliver in most parts of Secunderabad - call to find out. Nothing like ordering or picking up a set of fresh, hot phulkas and rotis on your way home. Clean, hygenic and affordable. They also have pickup points in parts of Marredpally and Vikrampuri at select hours in the evening. Also cater to bulk or party orders.
Negative: No other side dish or curry available. Also home delivery seems to be restricted to parts of Secunderabad only.

Click here for another view, of the inside, under the roof.
Eat Street has the following food counters:
A Minverva Coffee Shoppe: Serves south indian tiffins like dosa's, idli's etc. They also serve some hot(and fresh) jalebi's. No maincourse items though. Nothing like andhra meals or anything.
Chaat Corner: I love the Dahi poori here. The other chaat's are good too, I hear. I've tried the Samosa Ragada and Dahi Poori on many occasions. I have here a picture of Jalebi's and Dahi Papdi(or something).
In the bottom left, you see Chicken Manchurian style. Not very pricey at 65 rupees. The one time I tried it, it had a peppery taste to it. Notice the wooden plate on which the dahi-chaat is served on? Don't forget the pomegranate seeds.
This is half the spread at the chaat counter. Click for a bigger view.
Chinese: This counter serves up around 8 different starts in non-vegetarian and 6 in vegetarian. It has set chinese meal package's in both veg and non-veg and offers a choice of veg fried rice/veg noodles with a curry, dry item/salad. Softdrinks are avaliable at all the counters btw.
Here's an example. That's veg fried rice, a chicken curry and a salad. The other plate is a chicken dry item.
Wah! Hyderabad: This is the biryani/mughlai counter. My friends vouch for me when I say that the veggie biryani is good here. The chicken biryani is ok-okish but the mutton biryani rocks! One can also get combo's meals with dishes like afghani chicken and naan/roti. Set meals are avaliable in a decent variety. Separate starters/dry items are also avaliable. Good stuff, trustable. Here's a pic of the biryani:
I'm sorry for the half eaten cheese garlic bread piece in the right side. Click to take a look at the menu in the background.
Icecream Shack: Softies, cones and cups. Various flavours. I've tried Honey-Raisin, Blackcurrant, Apricot, etc. Not pricey at all. And yet, has quite a variety. Here's a pic of pistachio and vanilla-raspberry.
Cafe Coffee Day: Like any other Coffee Day.
Just Fries: Serves different kinds of french fries. They also serve Moutain dew.
Corn Club: All veggie joint. Serves excellent baked corn with cheese and babycorn french fries.
Pizza Hut: Although this joint doesn't have ALL the items shown on a regular Pizza Hut menu, it is decent. They serve only small pizza's and have very little variety i.e. 2-3 in each variety with Cheese Garlic Bread.
Extra's:
Shwarma Rolls: Didn't taste very good the last time I tried it. But it looked rather nice. Here's a pic.
Cup corn: Three kinds; Butter, Pepper or Masala. 25 rs a cup. Steamed corn in a cup. I love it.
Chocolate Hut: Has a vareity of chocolates to try out.
Tibb's FrankieTM Stand: The original Bombay FrankieTM in Hyderabad. Has Chicken Tikka, Tawa Chicken, Mutton and Chicken Chettinad frankies in the non-veg and Paneer, Veggie etc frankies too. Also offers grilled sandwiches. Max price of 30 rs. Not particularly filling, but very nice.
The good part about this place is that it's always expanding. They're planning to add more stalls to it.
FYI, There is a loo present after the kid's playground. Also, one can take the barge or the speedboat and take a tour of the lake. The landing is right off the main eating place.
All in all, I'd brand this as a family place. It's timings are: 11:30 am to 10:30 pm.
Mainland China, Hyderabad
Submitted by nash_da_basher on Wed, 15/06/2005 - 19:13. Hyderabad | Banjara Hills | Elite Restaurant | Chinese | Must Visit
- Clear Lemon and Seagrass soup with chicken. It was steaming hot, tangy, not particularly spicy and not at all sweet. Excellent to help get rid of that cold.
Starters:
- I love Shrimp. And this surpassed all expectations. As far as I can tell, it's stir-fried in a sauce(of the customer's choice - they offer garlic, spicy and 2 others), with onion, garlic and vegetables. Simply superb.
- So, you've never tried squid. You were told that it would be chewy and tasteless and a complete waste of your resources. Wrong. Squid, as a precaution must always be eaten after deep-frying, so I've been told. This was great. The sauce which came with it was good too. The squid, I suspect was simply washed, cut-up, coated with batter lightly and fried in oil. It was divine.
Maincourse:
- You get fried rice everywhere, right? Well, yes. But not like this stuff, you don't. This was easily the best fried rice I've ever tasted.
I also asked for Spicy Crab Claws, but to my dissapointment, the head waiter came to us 20 minutes after the first course was served with news that the crab claws were cooked, but were not 'upto the standard required to be served here'. I suspect that the chef forgot to cook them, or something. Heck, I'm happy with the food and I can say that this has to be the best place to eat Chinese food in.
Did I mention that these guys have a decent bar here? I've tasted the red house wine and a martini here. Nice is all I can say.
Cheers.

Bombay Vada Pav (Old)
Submitted by sumeet on Sun, 10/04/2005 - 18:51. Hyderabad | Paradise Circle | Roadside | Maharashtrian | CheapmaxGet a dose of the snack that is prepared as quickly as the fast paced life of the Mumbaiyaas, in Secunderabad. Grab a vada pav, a very cheap and tasty snack, at Bombay Vada Pav (Old).
Pay attention to the word 'Old' written on the banner because there's another stall just a few metres ahead, but the vada pav there doesn't taste as good.
If you do not eat very spicy foods, request the owner to make your vada-pav less spicy. :) But, if you can't get enough spices, ask for more of the fried green chillies to be given along with your snack!
Cost: INR 5.00 a piece
Chirag Ali Lane Chaat Center
Submitted by amunix on Thu, 07/04/2005 - 09:34. Hyderabad | Abids | Roadside | Indian | CheapmaxRun by a Kannadigaa family, this one takes the cream for the *best* pani puri they serve. Though it is a roadside joint, things are very clean and covered. Rs. 5 for a plate of pani puri (8 numbers.) The pani has a good lot Pudina (mint) in it - which makes it kinda authentic. Bhel comes for Rs. 10, and reminds me of Chowpatty. :) Other chaat stuff is also served, but I haven't had it. Generally I have somewhere around 25 pani puris' in one go - which leaves no space in my stomach for anything else. :) The husband and wife are very gentle and kind - you feel very nice while eating stuff here.
Oh, and on the RHS of this pani-puri stall, is a Farsaan shop (for those who are wondering where to get Farsaan in Hyderabad.) Also, one auntie makes some excellent mutton-kheemaa samosas' some 10 feet away from this stall. They are good in taste, say my friends'.
Kamaths Jowar Roti
Submitted by amunix on Wed, 06/04/2005 - 15:42. Hyderabad | Abids | Restaurant | Maharashtrian | AffordableThe name of the restaurant suggests' the menu itself. Some of the highlights -
* Dinner of jowar roti (jwarichi bhaakri) and pithlaa.
* Jowar rotis' are thin, and unlimited - they are served garmaa garam.

* At the end a banana and one paan is served in a tokri (basket.)
* Rs. 60 for the unlimited jowar bhakri dinner. Yes, rice, two subjis', sambar et. al. is served too. :)
* Very friendly service, guys know Marathi too.
* Very clean and simple ambience.
* Food has good VFM, and is very nourishous.
My favorite weekend place for dinner. Highly recommended.
Irani Chai of Paradise
Submitted by amunix on Wed, 06/04/2005 - 10:52. Hyderabad | Paradise Circle | Snack Joint | Irani | CheapmaxParadise restaurant serves the *best* Irani Chai in Hyderabad. Chai lovers' should not miss it for sure - you can miss out on the biryani if the need be. :) Since the Paradise Circle has four Paradise restaurants', it is very important to know which one of them. Here - Stand facing MG road at the Paradise Circle, take the small lane between MG Road and SD Road. This lane has no tar road, and goes to Sindhi Colony. The Paradise Restaurant in this lane is the one we are looking for. Another landmark is, next to the Paradise restaurant takeaway.
Jubilee Hills Checkpost Chaat Center
Submitted by amunix on Wed, 06/04/2005 - 10:38. Hyderabad | Jubilee Hills | Roadside | Street Food | CheapmaxOn the road towards Filmnagar, there is a petrol bunk on the right. Just next to the petrol bunk, you shall see this roadside chaat joint. It is half a minutes' walk from the Jubilee Hills Checkpost.
What to eat: Pav bhaji, aloo tikki, pani poori.
Cost: Almost all stuff comes at Rs. 10 or Rs. 15. Pav bhaji is Rs. 20.
What makes me recommend it: It is difficult to get the authentic taste of chaat, or pav bhaji in Hyderabad. This places comes close to it. :) Have fun !
