Churchgate

The first pizza i gnawed in Mumbai was here 20 yrs ago.

After trying so many other places over the years, (pls see my prevs post on thin crust pizza-s) I chanced upon the one and only PIZZERIA hoping for a miracle and lo ! the wish was granted.

Memories of that evenings' thin crust pizza melts in my mouth while I write this post.

The waiters - M/s Rajesh and Mihir were sweet and nice. Hats off to you !

My fellow Pizza lovers !! - INVADE the Pizzeria !

There was a time when Sundance could hold it's own and in some dishes come up tops against all the then popular Sizzler joints like Kobe's (townside) and Yoko's (Khar).

But I visted it recently after a gap and had the worst experience ever at a place which was once known for it's food.

The Chicken Sizzler it's signature dish came in a sauce which couldn't be qualified as anything except a thin tasteless soup.

A couple of friends had a burger and a stuffed chicken dish which were just average.

Sundance has rapidly gone down in quality while it's competitors have expanded all over Mumbai.

Right now it is more of a draft beer serving joint with average food. That itself explains a lot because earlier they did not serve alcohol at all at Sundance. Then they started serving beer and finally all sorts of liqour and all the time the food quality kept degrading.

Even though I had a soft corner for this place I would suggest you go to either Yoko's at Fort or Kobe's at Nana Chowk if you are in town even though I don't think very highly of them.

Else wait for Pop Tate's to open Colaba side. That is by far the best choice for sizzlers now. Excellent meat, delicious mashed potato, you can customize almost everything other than the meat in your Sizzler -- Dont like veggies? Just get french fries instead .. else more rice and less of everything else.

The suburbs win the Sizzler Stakes.

Starters and More holds lots of festivals related to booze and food. Watch out i you are ever in the Churchgate area. They have one drink free with every one ordered during happy hours (till 8pm).

Most of their cocktails are good. The flavoured martinis and shooters (flaming too) are cool. The cocktail list is extensive. Starters are imaginative and good. Haven't had too much food there. This is the place to start any bar or restaurant hopping trip in town.
